Year-Round Herb Gardens

Depending on the amount of light and space that you have available in your kitchen, having an herb garden all year round is relatively easy to do. Pick a few of your favorites. You know the ones, basil, oregano, cilantro, etc., they do not take up a great deal of space and you use them constantly!

In relatively small pots or containers, you can grow the herbs that are your most favored right on your kitchen window sill or a sunny spot on the counter that will allow you to have your fresh, favorite herbs any time of the year, regardless of the weather outside.

Located in almost any home improvement or craft stores, you can buy a set of three to five small planters kits made specifically to grow your herb garden inside your house. One set that is particularly popular comes with three small pots, special paints and all the ingredients (including the soil and herb seeds) that you need to decorate your pots to fit your décor.

Leaving them in a sunny location ensures they get the proper amount of sun, but not so much that the leaves burn, and allows you to use the herbs while you are cooking. Nothing beats fresh oregano or basil in that spaghetti sauce you are making. Heck, even if the sauce is bottled or jarred, your own herbs added to it give it that perfect spice which makes it uniquely your own.
